The Gateway IP parameter is defined for IP routes. When the equipment sends data packets, the equipment selects routes according to the longest-match rule. When no matching route is found, the equipment checks whether a default gateway exists. If a default gateway exists, the equipment sends all the data packets to the default gateway.
Do not modify the Gateway IP parameter unless required. The improper setting of the Gateway IP parameter may interrupt communication.
The IP address of the default gateway must be reachable. When you specify the IP address, check whether the IP address is reachable by using the current routing table. If the IP address has a matching route in the routing table, the IP address is effective. Otherwise, the IP address is ineffective.
