Port Protection

Navigation Path

In the NE Explorer, select an NE and choose Configuration > Port Protection from the Function Tree.

Note

For the protection switching command, the U2000 Web LCT considers only whether a command is successfully issued, but not the result of executing the command.

When you create optical line protection, you need to create protection for both the source and sink NEs to realize bidirectional protection.

Buttons

Description

Query

Queries configuration data from the NE.

New

Creates a port protection group.

Delete

Deletes a port protection group.

Modify

Modifies the attributes of the protection group.

Function

Force to Working Channel

Performs a forced switch to the working channel, regardless of the working channel status.

Force to Protection Channel

Performs a forced switch to the protection channel, regardless of the protection channel status.

Manual to Working Channel

When the working channel is normal, the service is switched to the working channel. When the working channel is unavailable, the switch does not occur.

Manual to Protection Channel

When the protection channel is normal, the service is switched to the protection channel. When the protection channel is unavailable, the switch does not occur.

Lock

Locks out current switching status of the working channel.

Clear

Clears the external commands and the internal middle status.

Query Switching Status

Displays the current switching status of the protection group.

Parameters

Table 1 Protection Group Parameters

Field

Value

Description

Protection Group Name

For example: NE811-52910

Displays the protection group name.

Protection Type

Optical Line Protection, Intra-Board 1+1 Protection, Client 1+1 Protection, Inter-Shelf 1+1 Optical Channel Protection

Displays the protection type of the protection group.

  • Optical line protection protects line fibers between adjacent stations by using the dual fed and selective receiving function of OLP boards.
  • The intra-board 1+1 protection utilizes the dual fed and selective receiving function of the OTU, OLP, or DCP board and diverse routing scheme to protect the service.
  • The client 1+1 protection is configured with one working wavelength and one protection wavelength that are transmitted in two different routings to protect the OTU board and OCh fiber. The client 1+1 protection protects the OTU board and OCh fibers by using the dual fed and selective receiving function of the OLP board.
  • The inter-shelf 1+1 optical channel protection scheme adopts two wavelengths: one is the working wavelength, and the other is the protection wavelength. The two wavelengths adopt different routes located in the different subracks to transmit signals to protect the client services.

Revertive Mode

Revertive, Non-Revertive

Default: Non-Revertive

Indicates whether the service is automatically switched from the protection channel to the working channel after the working channel becomes normal.

Revertive means that the service can be automatically switched. Non-Revertive means that the service is not switched to the working channel after the working channel becomes normal.

WTR Time (mm:ss)

5:00 to 12:00

WTR time indicates the time interval between the time when the working channel becomes normal and the time when the service is switched from the protection channel to the working channel.

The Revertive Mode is valid only when the value is Revertive.

SD Switching

Enabled, Disabled

Default: Disabled

Displays the SD trigger flag.

SD Condition

CLIENT_SD, TCM, PM

Only Client 1+1 protection support SD Condition.

For cascaded protection groups, select SD Condition as the SD trigger condition for protection switching.

NOTE:

SD Condition only can be set after query the protection group status.

  • TCM: SD conditions on TCM section of OTN service.
  • PM: SD conditions on PM section of OTN service.
  • CLIENT_SD applies to non-OTN service.

SF Condition

CLIENT_SF, TCM, PM, CSF

Only Client 1+1 protection support SF Condition.

For cascaded protection groups, select SF Condition as the SF trigger condition for protection switching.

NOTE:

SF Condition only can be set after query the protection group status.

  • TCM: SF conditions on TCM section of OTN service.
  • PM: SF conditions on PM section of OTN service.
  • CLIENT_SF applies to non-OTN service.

Switching Status

Idle, WTR, Auto Switched, Manual to Working channel, Manual to Protection channel, Force to Working channel, Force to Protection channel, SD Switched, SF Switched, Locked, Delay Start, Unknown

Displays the current switching status of the protection group.

Table 2 Channel Information Parameters

Field

Value

Description

Protection Group Name

For example: NE811-52910

Displays the protection group name.

Current Channel

Work, Protection, Unknown

Displays the path of the current service.

Working Channel

NE name-shelf ID(shelf name)-slot number-board name-port number(port name)

Displays the working channel of the protection group.

Working Channel Status

Normal, SD, SF, Unknown

Displays the status of the working channel.

Working Channel Hold-Off Time (100ms)

0 to 100

Displays the delay time of the switch from the working channel to the protection channel. Delay time is the time delayed for the protection group to switch from the current channel to another channel. It effectively avoids repeated switching when the service status is not stable.

Control/Detection Channel

NE name-shelf ID(shelf name)-slot number-board name-port number(port name)

Displays the protected channel information of the control board.

Protection Channel

NE name-shelf ID(shelf name)-slot number-board name-port number(port name)

Displays the protection channel of the protection group.

Protection Channel Status

Normal, SD, SF, Unknown

Displays the status of the protection channel.

Protection Channel Hold-Off Time (100 ms)

0 to 100

Displays the delay time of the switch from the protection channel to the working channel.

Switching Detection Time (10 ms)

0 to 1000

Switching Detection Time indicates the time interval waiting whether to perform switching or not when there is a trigger condition on the working channel or the protection channel. If there is no trigger condition on the other channel within the time interval, the board will perform switching.

NOTE:
  • Only Client 1+1 protection support Switching Detection Time (10 ms).
  • This parameter can be set only when the working unit, protection unit and control/detection unit are all on the local NE.
  • When you restart the NE Explorer or there is no operation on the NE for a long time , the parameter will be displayed as /. It is recommended that you click Query to query the Switching Detection Time from the NE before modifying the parameters of the protection group.
