Communication Parameters

In this user interface, you can set communication parameters, including IP address of an NE, extended ID, gateway IP address, subnet mask and NSAP address.

Navigation Path

In the NE Explorer, choose Communication > Communication Parameters from the Function Tree.

NOTE:
  • You are advised to use the default values of the NE communication parameters to ensure efficient communication between the U2000 Web LCT and NEs.
  • The difference between the gateway IP and the IP address of a GNE is as follows:

Name

Difference

Gateway IP Address

When an NE accesses a remote U2000 Web LCT or NE, it communicates with the U2000 Web LCT or NE using TCP/IP protocol through a router. The IP address of the router is the gateway IP address.

The IP address of a GNE

GNE is the NE communicates with the U2000 Web LCT through an Ethernet line or a serial port. Non-gateway NEs communicate with the U2000 Web LCT through the GNE. You can set the IP address of the GNE independently. By default, the IP address of the GNE changes with its ID, that is, IP = 0x81000000+ID. For example, if the ID is 0x090001, the default IP address is set to 129.9.0.1. If an IP address is set manually, it will not changes with the ID.

Parameters

Table 1 Descriptions of the NE Communication parameters

Field

Description

IP Address

The IP of an NE. When you change the IP, the NEs will not lost on NMS.

Extended ID

The high 8 bits of a 24-bit NE ID, also called the subnet number, used to identify different subnets.

Gateway IP Address

If NEs communicate with the U2000 Web LCT through ECC protocol, and gateway IP is the IP of the router connected to the equipment. In the following figure, set the gateway IP of NE1 to the IP of the IP1 port of the router.

The IP of NEs and the gateway IP should be in the same network segment.

For NEs communicate with the U2000 Web LCT through IP over DCC protocol, gateway IP is the IP of the NE with routing function. In the following figure, set the gateway IPof NE1 to the IP of NE11.

For NEs communicate with the U2000 Web LCT through OSI over DCC protocol, it is the same as IP over DCC.

Click Gateway IP (Setting Communication Parameters) for more information.

Subnet Mask

The network mask code of the subnet where an NE resides, used to identify the network segment where an NE resides.

NSAP Address

Includes domain address and NE SYSID. The domain address is editable, which can be 26 hexadecimal digits at most.

Connection Mode (preferred: SSL)

Sets the communication mode between the U2000 Web LCT and NEs.

Common: Indicates that the connection between the U2000 Web LCT and an NE is not encrypted.

Security SSL: Indicates that the connection between the U2000 Web LCT and an NE is encrypted.

Automatic DCN Recovery

If this parameter is set to Enable, DCN communication parameters will be saved on the NE and will not be changed even though the SCC board of the NE is replaced.
