Resetting a Board

You can reset a board by using the U2000 Web LCT. Resetting a board is a maintenance method used in the case of an improper board working status.

Context

Reset is a protection scheme for applications and data files on the equipment. When a board is not running properly, you can reset the board so that it returns to the normal state. Reset is of two types: warm reset and cold reset. A cold reset takes more time than a warm reset. After a board is reset, the data on the board is not lost, but the resetting process may interrupt services.
  • Performing a warm reset restores the applications and data to the normal state. Warm reset usually does not affect services.
  • Performing a cold reset restores the applications and data to the normal state before a CPU power failure. Cold reset usually affects services.
Performing a cold reset usually affects services. You can reset a board in the following two ways:
  • Performing a warm or cold reset to the board by using the U2000 Web LCT.
  • Performing a cold reset to the board by removing and inserting it.
