| PMU | Power and Environment Monitoring Unit. |
| VOA | Through the NM, the VOA board works with a line amplifier or pre-amplifier to implement automatic power control (APC) function. |
| OBU | The EDFA optical module of the OBU board only has an optical booster amplifier(BA) that works in the same way as OAU. |
| SCS | SCS is synchronous optical channel separator board, which divides one channel signals into multiple channel signals. It serves as the access board for active/backup OTU, and offers 1+1 optical channel protection or board level OTU protection. |
| GFU | Gain flattening unit. Implements fixed optical power equalization and static compensation for concatenated gain unflatness of the optical amplifier. |
| PBU | The PBU is the power backup board for the OTU board. The PBU provides centralized power protection for the OTU board. |
| HBA | High-power Optical Booster Amplifier Board. |
| DSE | DSE is dispersion slope equilibrium unit. Its built-in band-pass filter divides the C band (40 wavelengths in total) into five subbands and compensates the dispersion on a subband basis. |

| LWFS | STM-64 Transmit-receive Line Wavelength Conversion Unit With FEC Function(Super WDM). |
| SCC | System control and communication board (SCC) is the control center of network element. It accomplishes all the management functions and is responsible for the communication between the equipment and network management system. It implements the orderwire overhead processing as well. |
| M40 | M40: 40-channel Multiplexing Unit. |
| D40 | D40: 40-channel Optical Demultiplexer Unit. |
| V40 | V40 board is mainly used to adjust the input optical power of 40 STM-64 channels, and multiplex them with 100GHz channel spacing. Currently, V40 is used only for C-band. |
| LWF | The LWF board accesses STM-64 signal and transmits it with FEC (Forward Error Correction) code and vice versa. The implementation of FEC improves the signal quality and extends the transmission distance. |
| OAU | Generally applied to erbium doped fiber amplifier(EDFA) in the WDM system. Amplifies optical signals in the fibers and compensates signal attenuation caused by optical components and fibers. |
| RPA | Usually the optical fiber Raman amplifier is used at the receiving end of WDM system to amplify optical signals. This amplification process is based on non-linear SRS effect of the optical fiber. |
| RPC | The principle of RPC board is similar with that of RPA board, except it is used for optical signal in C-band. |
| MR2 | MR2 is 2-channel optical add/drop multiplexing board. One MR2 board can add or drop two wavelengths. Two MR2 boards can add or drop wavelengths bidirectionally. Two MR2 boards cascaded can add or drop four wavelengths unidirectionally. |
| ITL | The ITL board combines the respective ODD and EVEN bands to get full C/L-band transmission with 50GHz channel spacing, thus makes it possible to achieve 160 channels on single fiber. |
| SC1 | SC1 processes one supervisory channel and receives/transmits the optical signal from one direction. |
| SC2 | SC2 processes two supervisory channels and receives/transmits the optical signals from both directions. |

| MCA | The MCA board can supervise central wavelength, power, signal-to-noise ratio and other parameters of optical signals in real time. |
| OLP | OLP provides optical line protection. The protection mode is dual-fed signal selection and unidirectional switching. It does not need APS protocol, and is reliable and fast. |
| OCP | The function of OCP board is to protect OTU wavelength channel to ensure uninterrupted service channel transmission. In this type of protection, the switching occurs at both ends and automatic protection switching protocols are involved. |
| VA4 | VA4 board is used for optical power adjustment and equalization according to the commands from SCC, so that smooth and controlled transmission is ensured. |
