For various networking modes of the transmission equipment, the OptiX transmission equipment of Huawei provides multiple DCN solutions.

Solution	Description	Application Scenarios	Strength and Weakness
HWECC Solution	With this solution, NEs transmit the data that supports the HWECC protocol through DCN channels.	When the network is comprised of only the OptiX transmission equipment, the HWECC solution is the first choice.	The HWECC protocol is a private protocol developed by Huawei to support the DCN networking of OptiX equipment. The HWECC protocol features easy configuration and application. This solution features easy configuration and convenient application.
IP over DCC Solution	With this solution, NEs transmit the data that supports the TCP/IP protocol through DCN channels.	When the network is comprised of both the OptiX transmission equipment and the third-party equipment that supports the TCP/IP function, the IP over DCC solution is the first choice. The IP over DCC solution is also applicable when the network is comprised of only the OptiX transmission equipment.	The TCP/IP protocol is a standard protocol. Therefore, it is applicable when a network is comprised of both the OptiX equipment and third-party equipment. However, the configuration of the IP DCN solution is more complicated than that of the HWECC solution.
OSI Over DCC Solution	With this solution, NEs transmit the data that supports the Open System Interconnection (OSI) protocol through DCCs.	When the network is comprised of both the OptiX transmission equipment and the third-party equipment that supports the OSI over DCC function, the OSI over DCC solution is the first choice.	The OSI protocol is a standard protocol. Therefore, it is applicable when a network is comprised of both the OptiX equipment and third-party equipment. However, the configuration is more complicated than that of the HWECC solution and the IP DCN solution.

NOTE:

When OptiX equipment is interconnected with other vendors' equipment that does not support the TCP/IP and OSI standard communication protocols, Huawei provides the transparent transmission function for DCC bytes, and provides relevant Ethernet service channels to transparently transmit the OAM information.
